339. The Narita Highway
narita miti Visited Naritasan Sinshouji again. The day with no particular attraction enables us to have a relaxed walk through the approach to the temple.

This is an explantion, at the tourist information along the worshiper street, of the old post towns of the pilgrim highway to Narita, from Edo Nihon-basi to Narita Teradai post.

My QTH is along with this old road. Jouza-mura (village) next to the boxed Usui Post Town in the middle.

338. Dokudami
dokudami Dokudami are blooming everywhere now. The photo was taken at a vacant lot during the evening walk.

This is a real weed to grow and thrive anywhere and disliked things here. A close look at them, however, has made me feel they are prety cute.

This view seems not so wrong. In fact, a book titled "Wonder of familiar weeds" by Mr. MORI Akihikoa / one of the paperback series of "Science i", indicates that the dokudami is a popular herb in Europe. Below I quote as it is.

- - - Seeing the cultvated varieties, I was stuned by their beauty. Especially double-petaled dokudami, spotted dokudami, etc. were brilliant and exquisite. - - -

337. Roadside tree control
kusu-no-ki It has been nearly 40 years since this area was first developed. And the roadside kusu-no-ki (camphor tree) all have become large trees with an armful of trunk.

Their possible interference with road traffics seem to accelerate the works to cut down those planted immediately close to the crossings here and there since last year.

The photo is for the one cut down very recently.

336. Sijyu-kara
Sijyukara A sijyu-kara under rearing its chiks at my place.

Although chiks usually leave the nest during the May holidays, they are still in the bird box as the nest preparation this year started one month or more late.

The picture is through a mosquito screen window and blurred. Could be OK.

As the nest box is close to the lower part of the antenna support pillar, I refrain from adjusting my antennas during the 2-month period from the nest making to chiks' fledgling. Also the nearby shutter windows are left open to avoid making unnecessay noise.

Today I noticed as in the photo that the bird perched by stradlling the elements of the ladder-line for my horizontal dipole antenna. That section could bring about a rather high voltage depending on the selected frequencies. It looks better not to operate my radios during the daytime.

335. Tora-gi June issue
ƒgƒ‰‹Z 6 ŒŽ† Tora-gi (Transistor Tech.) latest issue is for the telecom of low-power, low-speed, super-long-distance.

Although today is the time of 5G something, high-speed / large-capacity data / short-distance communication, this issue treats those world of complete opposite.

I have heard that the cube-sat TRICOM-1R launched from Uchino-ura last year succeded in the communication with the ground station with only 8 mW output. This issue makes us realize we have already come to an awesome point.

333. Stone-wall storehouse
Isigura Isigura 2
Visited "Stone Art Museum" located at Ashino in Nasu. This is dedicated to stones and privately owned by a local stonemason by renovating stone-wall rice warehouses bought from a local agricultural cooperaive. The design is by Mr. KUMA kengo.

I was curious about how these stone buildings achieve earthquake resistance. In this case, as in the photo, the inner wooden frames sustain the roof, and probably hold the top of the stone walls by the beams. That looks all.

332. Those who perform entertainments prohibited
Chofukuji A barrier stone of Tenpou 9th year (1838) located at the left side in front of Chofuku temple, zen sect, near Shin-kawa.

The grave of the Murakami, lord of Yonemoto fortress, is in this temple.

It reads as follows.

‹ÖŒ|p”„”ƒ”V”y

The explanation panel of Yachiyo Education Board indicates that this reads "those who perform entertainments prohibited", namely "show businesses in this precinct were not allowed".

In other words, the then people around here must have been excited with such show businesses.

Chofukuji 2 Further the stone located at the right side reads;

•s‹–”yŽð“ü

The panel has no explanation as it is self-explanatory, i.e., "no entry permitted to those who are intoxicated".

Conversely, it could well be so that drunkards coming to the temple were endless.

331. Can walk with its back?
Ko-ao-hanamuguri Ko-ao-hanamuguri
Under threatening sky, I noticed something on kodemari flowers at my place. It was a hana-muguri.

Its overall length is only 1 cm or so. It is much smaller than an ordinary hana-muguri. Ko-ao-hana-muguri seems the right name.

It is said that this beetle can walk on its back by its stiff hairs even if it falls on its back. I have never encountered such scene although I frequently saw overturned kanabuns trying to stand up helplessly.

330. Turigane-suisen
Turigane suisen At this time of year, this flower appears under the bay window.

Though I have no recollection of buying nor getting it from someone, it has long occupied this place. As it does not obstract our passages, it has been just left there.

I had not cared its name, but tried to find out. It looks gardening shops name it scila something. While the internet site of Tsukuba Botanical Garden indicates the name turigane-suisen. This local name plainly expresses this plant.
